Fairs, Festivals, and Parades

From spring to fall, more than a dozen fairs and festival dot the calendar for Elkins, leading up to West Virginia’s largest festival in October. Quaint and friendly towns throughout the county celebrate what makes them special. To find more in the surrounding area, click here.

Here are a few festivals located in the downtown area of Elkins.

Augusta Heritage Festival

The Augusta Festival is an annual celebration of traditional music, dance and craft. Festivities are held in the local Elkins City Park.

Christmas Parade

This annual parade is becoming one of the largest “small town” parades in Randolph County and surrounding counties.


Mountains Beckon Bicycle Parade & Rodeo

This parade is one of the most child and family friendly events during the summer. Over the past years families in Randolph County have loaded up bicycles and headed to downtown Elkins for a free and fun morning of riding bikes and learning about bike safety. Children dress up and decorate their bikes. Immediately following parade, the bike rodeo begins where young riders practice their skills on a traffic cone course.

Mountain State Street Machines Auto Extravaganza

This summer car show takes place at the Delmonte Market and Elkins City Park in downtown Elkins. Cruise-in for antique/classic/rods/tuner/unique cards and trucks.

Mountain State Forest Festival

The Mountain State Forest Festival (MSFF) is one of the largest and oldest festivals in West Virginia. It promotes the beauty and splendor of our mountains and valley in their autumn glory. At the end of the week of festivities there is a Children’s Parade, Fireman’s Parade, and Grand Feature parade.

Ramps and Rail Festival

Food vendors concoct some delicious ramp-themed foods, like ramp burgers, ramperoni rolls, ramp chili and ramp risotto with shrimp, at this downtown festival. There will be about fifty different food and craft booths.

Scarecrow Festival

Scarecrows and cornstalks decorate the streets of downtown Elkins during the months of September and October. During the final week, Elkins Main Street hosts the Downtown Trick or Treat (Pictured Above) that brings children and families downtown.
