Elkins Main Street’s mission is to grow a vibrant, livable downtown experience and environment.
Elkins Main Street reaches these goals by leveraging available community assets, promoting public and private partnerships, supporting historic preservation, enhancing our cultural environment and embracing our heritage with a focus on investment in our future.
Elkins was designated a Main Street Community in 2015 following their two years as an ONTRAC community. We are one of 12 certified communities in the state of West Virginia. The purpose of the Main Street program is to tackle the complex issue of downtown and neighborhood district revitalization.
Following the comprehensive Four Point Approach, Main Street focuses on downtown revitalization through Economic Development, Design (Historic Preservation and Beautification), Promotion, and Organization (Fundraising and Volunteer Recruitment).
Main Street West Virginia serves as a liaison between various state agencies and organizations with designated communities.
We believe in collaboration. We’re proud to partner with these organizations to build a stronger Elkins.
